Palm Sedge

Carex muskigemensis

Palm Sedge (Carex muskigemensis) is a groundcover plant with grassy foliage that prefers wet to mesic soil in sun to part sun but can tolerate some shade. It grows to about 3 feet tall, and colonies form as the plants mature, making them a good choice for groundcovers on slopes and in basins. Companion plants include Marsh Marigold (Caltha palustris) and Southern Blue Flag Iris (Iris virginica shrevei).

Maintenance

In late winter, cut dead foliage back to 2 inches.
