Lungwort (Pulmonaria spp.) is a seasonal and groundcover plant with purple or pink blooms in spring. They prefer part sun to shade in mesic soil where they grow up to 1 foot tall. They are a good choice for the slopes of shaded bioretention. Companion plants include Long-beaked Sedge (Carex sprengelii) and Foamflower (Tiarella cordifolia).
Maintenance
Slugs and snails may damage foliage. Plants in wet soils or scorching sun will struggle.
