Sky Blue Aster

Symphyotrichum oolentangiense

Sky Blue Aster (Symphyotrichum oolentangiense) is a seasonal plant with lavender, blue, or purple flowers in fall. They prefer sun to part sun in mesic to dry soil where they grow up to 3 feet tall. They are a good choice for the slopes and banks of bioretention installations. Companion plants include Flowering Spurge (Euphorbia corollata) and Prairie Dropseed (Sporobolus heterolepis).
