Verbesina alternifolia

Wingstem (Verbesina alternifolia) is a structural plant with yellow flowers from late summer through fall. They can tolerate sun to shade conditions in moist to mesic soil where they grow up to 8 feet tall. They can be used in the basins and slopes of large, shaded bioretention installations. Companion plants include Tall Bellflower (Campanula americana) and Golden Alexanders (Zizia aurea).

Maintenance

Plants may require staking while in bloom.
