‘Hummelo’ Betony (Stachys officinalis 'Hummelo') is a seasonal plant with purple flowers from summer into fall. They prefer mesic soil in sun to part sun where they grow up to 2 feet tall. They are a good choice for slopes. Companion plants include Bradbury’s Bee Balm (Monarda bradburiana) and Prairie Dropseed (Sporobolus heterolepis).

Maintenance

Cut dead foliage back to ground in late winter.
