Blue Grama (Bouteloua gracilis) is a groundcover plant with grassy foliage and interesting seed structures that persist from summer into winter. They prefer dry soil in full sun. They grow to 2 feet tall and are a good choice for sunny bioretention banks. Companion plants include Purple Prairie Clover (Dalea purpurea) and Lead Plant (Amorpha canescens).
Maintenance
Cut foliage back to three inches in late winter. No other serious maintenance needs.
