Spotted Joe Pye Weed (Eutrochium maculatum) is a seasonal plant with purple or pink blooms from summer into fall. They prefer moist to wet soil in full sun. They grow up to 6 feet tall and are a good choice for slopes and basins of bioretention installations. Companion plants include Southern Blue Flag Iris (Iris virginica var. shrevei) and Palm Sedge (Carex muskigemensis).
Maintenance
Consider cutting back post-bloom to prevent aggressive spreading by seed.
