Ligularia (Ligularia dentata) is a structural plant with yellow blooms in summer and large, showy foliage that can be various shades of green and deep red, depending on cultivar selection. They prefer moist soil in part sun to full shade where they grow up to 4 feet tall. They are a good choice for shaded bioretention slopes and basins. Companion plants include Cinnamon Fern (Osmunda cinnamomea) and Cardinal Flower (Lobelia cardinalis).
Maintenance
No serious maintenance concerns. Slug damage is an occasional foliar issue. Plants may wilt if planted in areas with hot afternoon sun.
