Mapleleaf Viburnum

Viburnum acerifolium

Mapleleaf Viburnum (Viburnum acerifolium) is a structural shrub with white flowers in early summer, blue fruit that persists through fall, and good fall color. They prefer mesic soil in part sun to shade where they grow up to 6 feet tall. They are a good choice for the slopes of shaded rain gardens. Species for underplanting include Pennsylvania Sedge (Carex pensylvanica) and ‘Rozanne’ Geranium (Geranium ‘Rozanne’).

Maintenance

Prune in late winter to maintain height and shape. Remove any dead or diseased wood.
