Marginal Wood Fern

Dryopteris marginalis

Marginal Wood Fern (Dryopteris marginalis) is a groundcover with green fronds up to 3 feet long. They prefer average soil in part sun to shade. Colonies typically form as the plants mature, which makes them a good choice for shaded rain garden slopes. Good companion plants include Jacob's Ladder (Polemonium reptans) and Pennsylvania Sedge (Carex pensylvanica).

Maintenance

Protection from strong prevailing winds is recommended.
