Nodding Onion (Allium cernuum) is a seasonal interest plant with pink blooms from mid-to late summer. It prefers moist to mesic soil in sun to part sun, but can tolerate light shade. They can grow to 18 inches tall and are best suited for planting on slopes and banks. They can easily be interplanted with other low growing companion plants, including Prairie Dropseed (Sporobolus heterolepis) and ‘Rozanne’ Geranium (Geranium ‘Rozanne’).
Maintenance
Grows best in part sun, but can tolerate full sun or light shade. Nodding Onion will self-seed after the blooming season. If this is an issue, deadhead in September.
