Prairie Coreopsis

Coreopsis palmata

Prairie Coreopsis (Coreopsis palmata) is a seasonal plant with yellow blooms from late spring through mid-summer. They prefer full sun in mesic to dry soil where they can grow up to 2.5 feet tall. They are a good choice for the slopes and banks of bioretenion plantings. Companion plants include Flowering Spurge (Euphorbia corollata) and Prairie Dropseed (Sporobolus heterolepis).

Maintenance

No serious maintenance needs. In rich soils, may need to be staked while in bloom. Where planted, ensure soil is well drained to prevent crown rot.
