Prairie Milkweed (Asclepias sullivantii) is a seasonal plant with pink blooms in early to mid-summer. They prefer mesic to moist soil in full sun where they grow to 3 feet tall. They are a good choice for bioretention slopes and basins. Prairie Milkweed is also a host plant for the Monarch butterfly. Companion plants include Palm Sedge (Carex muskigemensis) and Southern Blue Flag Iris (Iris virginica var. shrevei).
