Prairie Trillium (Trillium recurvatum) is a spring ephemeral plant with red flowers in spring. They prefer moist to dry soil in part sun to shade where they grow to 1 foot tall. They are a good choice for shaded banks and slopes. Companion plants include Rosy Sedge (Carex rosea) and White Wood Aster (Eurybia divaricata).
Maintenance
No serious maintenance needs. Nearby plants should be designed to fill in the gaps left behind when the plant goes dormant in the summer.
