Purple Love Grass

Eragrostis spectabilis

Purple Love Grass (Eragrostis spectabilis) is a groundcover plant with grassy foliage and good fall color. They have airy, rose-colored panicles in summer and fall that are showy. They prefer mesic to dry soil in full sun. They grow to 2 feet tall and are a good choice for groundcovers on dry, sunny banks. Companion plants include Pale Purple Coneflower (Echinacea pallida) and Butterflyweed (Asclepias tuberosa).

Maintenance

No serious maintenance needs. Cut foliage back to three inches in late winter.
