Short's Aster

Symphyotrichum shortii

Shorts Aster (Symphyotrichum shortii) is a seasonal plant with lavender flowers late summer through fall. They prefer dry to mesic soil in part sun to shade where they grow up to 3 feet tall. They are a good choice for shaded banks and slopes. Companion plants include Pennsylvania Sedge (Carex pensylvanica) and Wild Ginger (Asarum canadense).

Maintenance

Plants may need staking while in bloom. No other serious maintenance needs.
