Shrubby St. John’s Wort (Hypericum prolificum) is a structural plant with yellow blooms in summer. They prefer mesic soil in sun to part sun but can tolerate shade. They grow up to 5 feet tall and are a good choice for slopes. Companion plants include Bradbury’s Bee Balm (Monarda bradburiana) and Prairie Alumroot (Heuchera richardsonii).
Maintenance
Root rot can be a problem in wet soils.
