Southern Blue Flag Iris (Iris virginica var. shrevei) is a seasonal interest plant with purple blooms from late spring into summer. They prefer wet to moist soils in sun to part sun, growing to 3 feet tall. They can tolerate short periods of up to 12 inches of standing water, making them great for planting in basins. Companion plants include Common Rush (Juncus effusus) and White Turtlehead (Chelone glabra).
Maintenance
