Swamp Milkweed (Asclepias incarnata) is a seasonal interest plant with pink flowers in summer. They prefer wet to moist soil in sun to part sun where they grow from 2 to 6 feet tall. They are a good choice for basins. Swamp Milkweed is also a host plant for the Monarch butterfly. Companion plants include Southern Blue Flag Iris (Iris virginica var. shrevei) and Common Rush (Juncus effusus).
Maintenance
Swamp Milkweed is attractive to aphids, which may cause aesthetic damage but should not severely impact the plant.
