Virginia Spring Beauty (Claytonia virginica) is an ephemeral plant with white flowers in very early spring. They prefer moist to dry soil in part sun to shade where they grow to less than 1 foot tall. They are a good choice for shaded banks and slopes. Companion plants include Rosy Sedge (Carex rosea) and White Wood Aster (Eurybia divaricata).
